2009 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In 2009, we received two important grants. The US Department of United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Grant was awarded to us in the amount of $56,650 through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant program for a drainage project. The design of the project had been completed in kind by MSES Engineering in 2007. With its completion, our buildings now have French drains that are connected to a master drain which allows proper removal of rain water from our grounds.  Moneys from this project also assisted us with the purchase of some materials for the parking lot project. Our second significant grant for 2009 was a Community Partnership Grant from the State of West Virginia which has been used to rehabilitate and expand the Blacksmith Shop. This project, also funded in part by Dominion Resources and AmeriCorps included contract labor and volunteer efforts by Energy Express, Miracle Meadows as well as our general volunteer base.
