Did you know that FORT NEW SALEM gave birth to the APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL?  What started as a fall festival at the Fort evolved into the SALEM APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL.  While, today, the festival is its own entity, FORT NEW SALEM remains an active participant in this community celebration!  New for 2023, we will be making Apple Butter at the festival!

PLEASE NOTE:     FORT NEW SALEM WILL BE ON THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS FOR ALL FOUR DAYS BUT “THE FORT” WILL ONLY BE OPEN ON SATURDAY  

SPECIAL FESTIVAL HOURS AT FORT NEW SALEM

Fort New Salem will be open on Saturday (October 7) from 10 – 5 PM in celebration of the community Apple Butter Festival. General admission to the Fort is $5 with children under 10 admitted free. Tours will occur on each day. We will have multiple artisans scheduled to demonstrate. We will have maple syrup cotton candy made on site and available to purchase.

  • wood working
  • blacksmith
  • pottery
  • hearth cooking
  • herbology
  • printing / paper marbling

BOOTH ON THE APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL GROUNDS

Fort New Salem will also host a booth on the Apple Butter Festival grounds and will feature a stock lock up for a unique photo opportunity and WE WILL BE MAKING APLE BUTTER ON SITE.  Visit our portable stocks. Gifts available
