Fort New Salem offers interpretive school tours in keeping with our mission to “preserve and advance the educational, historical, cultural, and social aspects of Nineteenth Century West(ern) Virginia”. Those of us who “interpret” at the Fort consider educating the public – especially our younger public – our highest priority. To pass on the history and customs of our ancestors who settled this area of western Virginia accurately and passionately is the goal for which we strive and hosting school tours is a major part of that effort.

Fort New Salem is pleased to offer school tours annually. Our unique educational experience is conducted on our campus during select and dates. Availability is limited and on a first come first served basis.
