Fort New Salem is closed to the public on a day-to-day basis. 

We are working to repair, renew and expands our facility.  We have been busy creating much change on our campus. Currently we are finishing the constructing the Bennett Cabin and have created new front end to our campus with includes a new flagpole, new bell pole, new stocks. New walkways have been added on the back third of our campus.  The Bennett Cabin has new shake roof was installed and its chinking and daubing completed. It is now electrified and is approaching its completion.  We hope to soon announce its grand opening dedication date.

A major 2023 effort involved the Reynolds House, which received a new front porch and two side porches. That effort has continued in 2024 as we restored windows with a goal of limited use by the end of 2024 with a grand opening dedication spring 2025.

General Admission

Our general admission for events is ranges from $7 – 10 with children 10 and under admitted free with a paying adult. From time to time, we have workshops (such as classes on blacksmithing, basket making, dulcimer playing, etc.). For workshops, visitors pay the general admission fee and the registration fee for any workshop attended.

Hours of Operation

Our facility is open to the public ONLY during our events.  The individual event hours vary and are listed on the page for that activity.

Private Rental

As our campus has developed so have the requests for private use of our facility. Currently this has included company picnics, weddings, high school reunions, family reunions and organization meetings. Contact us to find out more about holding a private event at Fort New Salem. We currently offer no on site catering but can make arrangements with area vendors. Private rental requests are subject to facility availability.
